Lawrence Family Development, Inc is looking for an experienced Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities team. As our Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for ensuring our real estate and leased properties are up to code and operational for the safety of our staff and students. The Maintenance Technician will oversee ongoing inspections and evaluation of property, properly diagnose machinery and equipment, manage projects and work with contractors, oversee construction projects, and train new employees on equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and provide preventative maintenance on a regular schedule to maintain operating condition at all times, including heating and cooling utility systems, mechanical equipment and vehicles
  • Provide students, teachers, administration and all other staff with a safe, clean, and comfortable environment daily
  • Partner with Director of Facilities on technical needs within department
  • Assist in maintaining inventory and recommend purchases to meet safety and operational needs of building
  • Oversee minor and major repair work as assigned
  • Work with Facilities Director to schedule with staff building repairs with outside contractors for all buildings and/or facilities (electricians, plumbers, carpenters, etc.)
  • Assist in maintaining and keeping all heavy and small engine equipment (trucks, lawnmower, snowblower, plowing equipment, etc). in appropriate working order
  • Serve as secondary point of contact for emergencies after hours
  • Implement a preventive maintenance plan for all school and administrative buildings
  • Prioritize projects and improve response and tracking of all maintenance requests to ensure no disruption of operations
  • Perform and/or oversee daily operations, routine inspections and correct issues of building maintenance
  • Manage maintenance and facility vendors and act as liaison between the agency, accounts payable and vendors
  • Coordinate seasonal landscaping and maintenance of all premises such as lawn care, plowing, shoveling and sanding all sidewalks, driveways and parking areas as needed
  • Partner with administration staff to prioritize and respond to maintenance requests[CM6] through Help-Desk Tickets
  • Collaborate with the department supervisor as well as the Director of Nutritional Services to support organizational leadership and special events for all school-wide and non-profit events including, but not limited to, Opening Day, Orientation, High School Fair, Field Days, Board Meetings, Awards Night, Graduations as well as any other special events that require set up

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Certification(s) pertaining to building maintenance and HVAC
  • Experience in general school and facilities maintenance and operations
  • Effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in maintenance and custodial operations
  • Ability to read, understand, and create blueprint drawings
  • OSHA certified
  • Solid understanding of building permit process through City Government
  • Ability to make minor and major repairs and operate power machines, lawnmower, snow blower, etc.
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Bilingual (Spanish) ideal and preferred
